Danielle Forshee, Psy.D, LCSW

I am a Doctor of Psychology and a Licensed Clinical Social worker in both New Jersey and New York. My practice specializes in high-conflict matters including the treatment of high-risk behaviors including the assessment and treatment of non-suicidal self-injury and suicidality, psychiatric disorders and high-conflict family problems within and outside of the family and criminal court systems.

Court- involved areas of competence include:

- Reunification therapy

- Parent-child contact problems

- Anger management

- High conflict co-parenting therapy

- Individual therapy for alleged perpetrators of domestic violence

- Individual therapy for persons involved in custody disputes

Non-court involved areas of competence include:

- Individual therapy for adolescents and adults struggling with non-suicidal self-injury, suicidal thoughts and behaviors, generalized and social anxiety, obsessions and compulsions, depression and panic.

Regarding academic publications, I have published work on issues related psychiatric emergency and its interface with the law through academic sources such as Springer International Publications, as well as topics related to divorce mediation through the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators. As it pertains to media and press, I have been featured on Channel 9 news and in multiple press outlets for insights into national events, social issues and guidance in dealing with psychological disorders and common relationship problems.

Throughout my career to-date, I have developed and provided over 50 trainings on the topics of suicide and risk, non-suicidal self-injury and de-escalation strategies for hospitals throughout both Hackensack Meridian and RWJ Barnabas systems; local police departments; the Ocean County Police Academy; several acute-care inpatient psychiatric hospitals in NJ and PA; the National Association of Social Workers; Rutgers University; the Monmouth County Bar Association; guidance departments in several Ocean County school districts, and the American Academy of Pediatric Physicians.

Relevant certifications include New Ways for Families Provider for court-involved high-conflict co-parenting and high-conflict parenting interventions for children who resist contact with a parent through the Overcoming Barriers program via William James College. Relevant advanced training has been completed via the Ellis Institute in New York City in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), as well as couples counseling assessment and interventions through the Gottman Institute.
